This vintage started with a wet spring, with almost double the rainfall of the previous spring. In late October we were badly affected by an unseasonal frost which blackened off most of the chardonnay shoots and also impacted the pinot vines. There was a run of cooler weather during flowering in early December, coupled with some very hot days during this time. We also had rain and strong westerly winds during the flowering and fruit-set period. As a consequence of the frosts and the poor weather in early December fruit set was significantly reduced. January on the other hand had temperatures above average with some very hot days.

The Riesling was picked on 4 April, and the Pinot noir on 5 April.

All grapes were sold as they did not meet our requirements for producing premium wines.
